While we are adding new dates, read more about this tour below.
There are new off road routes being created that will ultimately cross 10 western U.S. states. These routes will be a great opportunity for off road enthusiasts to experience some of the most beautiful and remote sections in each state. These routes are officially called the Backcountry Discovery Routes and are being created by the off road motorcycle community. The Utah, Washington, Colorado, Arizona, Idaho and Oregon routes are already completed while the others are being scouted.
The River Pilot Utah Backcountry Discovery Route tour proceeds through the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, southwest Wyoming, the phenomenal Moab region, Abajo Peak, Montezuma Canyon and picturesque Monument Valley. The tour is a combination of self guided and supported riding with breakfast, lunch and snacks provided throughout the day. Riders can leave their luggage in the support van and focus on riding without the extra weight. The tour guide rides as a lead or sweep based on the situation, while riders will be in small "two up" groups so everyone has a chance to ride at their own pace. We stay in 3 star motels each evening so you can freshen up and relax at night. Sure, take your time, soak up the scenery, practice and roost where you please. View the interactive map here.
With highly accurate GPS map data you will be assured of always knowing where the route, attractions, lodging and fuel is. If something breaks or you need some tools, the tour guide and van driver will be of assistance to get you back on the trail. With over 900 statute miles of National Forest Service (NFS), country and county roads, you will test your skills in off road riding. If you are looking for more dirt and exploration than this, you might want to consider the Dakar Rally or being a geologist!
Our tour is paced for success so you can expect to explore with confidence. After this ride your skills will be polished and your abilites will be expanded. Utah offers mountain views while in the saddle like Beaver, Waas and many others. You will have the opportunity to hone your skills on the Slick Rock Trail and visit the Moab valley on your way towards Monument Valley. The trails are gently traveled and there will be times when you ride all day and the only traffic you see will be your riding partners. You'll cross rivers, see wildlife and mark new campgrounds that you will want to visit in the future. Utah is one of the most visited places in the west and you will see why.
Join River Pilot Tours on the UTBDR. Our experienced team will guide you along the way and the good news is when we are done, there are 9 more routes to go. River Pilot Tours - "Come Along For The Ride"
