One of the most rewarding components of owning a dual sport motorcycle or off road vehicle is the opportunity to explore and go to places that are off the beaten path. Many of our tour guides are interested in finding remote locations and towns in the USA and enjoy learning about their history from the locals. This tour is the culmination of one of our lead tour guides passions.
The mountain region of the rockies has long been the place that tour guides go to challenge themselves and find new places to ride and camp. There are water crossings, rivers, hunting, horse riding, old ghost towns, rugged and grissly, self reliant people who like to live life remotely and privately. All of this is a great break from the southwest and well traveled roads known to most international guests. If you like getting away with a group of explorers this is your tour. View the interactive map here.
The fun about a ghost town ride is to see the evolution of a city or region and how the first settlers were able to survive and thrive in these vast, remote, uncharted, open territorries. Imagine hauling supplies, people, animals, goods and services to places that didn't have roads or electricity. Then to learn that these small towns were, at the time, the largest mine or timber resource of the time. Its a wonderful way to learn about the past and see what rugged americans were like in those early days.
This tour takes you to over 35 towns in these two states. You will have an expert tour guide to show you these remote towns and after a long day, an opportunity to refresh in a motel with a warm shower and soft bed. Distances and riding times are a little longer that usual but rewarding. Like a good workout, you'll feel refreshed and invigorated after the days over. We have the support van following along to take care of your gear, store refreshments and offer assistance when needed.
The pictures and scenery are great. We spend time getting some great pictures that you can send to friends and family for your tour "brag sheet" or website blog. Of course we offer GPS tracks and real time tracking for your comfort and safety. We make a remote and exciting tour just another day of riding.
